ACOUSTICAL BAFFLES
In order to further reduce reflective sound,
baffles can be suspended from the ceiling. Colors and fabric selections are the
same as those for the wall panels to fit with the overall design.
TYPE I BAFFLE
Type I Baffles are comprised of one piece of a
light weight, 7 PCF glass fiber core, covered on all faces and edges with a
fabric finish. They can have square or radius edges and corners, and can be
utilized for additional sound absorption in existing spaces. Mounting is with
eye hooks.
Thicknesses: 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1-1/2", 2".
Absorption Rating: 1" x 48" x 12" -- 6.4 sabins.
A. SCOPE
This section includes all of the Type 1 Acoustical
Baffles as manufactured by Custom Acoustical Products
PHONE (612) 685-3099 or FAX (763) 746-0110.
B. MATERIALS
1. Type 1 Acoustical Baffles shall be constructed of
one piece of 7 PCF noncombustible and dimensionally stable glass fiber core.
Each one piece unit shall be (1/2"), (3/4"), (1"), (1-1/2"), (2") in thickness
and in height and width as required. All edges shall have internal edge
protection. The edges of the baffle shall be (square), (radius) and corners
(square), (radius).
2. The faces and all edges shall be covered with (nonwoven or woven
polyester fabric), (manufacturer approved custom fabric).
3. The Type 1 Acoustical Baffles shall have a Noise Reduction Coefficient of
1.5 sabins / sq. ft. (2") using ASTM C423-81a, Sound Absorption and Sound
Absorption Coefficients by the Reverberation Room Method.
C. JOB CONDITIONS
1. Installation of Type 1 Acoustical Baffles
shall not begin until all wet work, such as plastering, concrete, etc. is
completely dry. The baffles are designed for installation under standard
occupancy conditions from 60ºF to 85€F and not more than 80% R.H. in an enclosed
building.
2. The contractor shall be responsible for the examination and acceptance of
all surfaces and conditions prior to baffle installation.
D. INSTALLATION
1. All Type 1 Acoustical Baffles should be
installed in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and
recommendations.
2. All necessary hardware and accessories for the complete job installation
are to be furnished by the contractor.
TYPE II BAFFLE
The core of the Type II Baffle is made up of
two pieces of glass fiber. Faces and edges can either have square or radius
edges and corners, and may be covered with perforated vinyl or fabric.
Applications would be for additional sound absorption. Mounting is with
D-Rings.
Thicknesses: 1", 1-1/2", 2".
Absorption Rating: 2" x 48" x 24" -- 12 sabins.
